The European Union’s financial support of Myra’s work in Ethiopia is greatly appreciated. The statement contradicted a standard narrative in Ethiopian history. However, special thanks must go to Myra Murby who devotedly spent time building the capacity of the Ministry textbook writers to enable them to produce interactive and student-friendly teaching and learning materials. In his now-classic book, The Oromo of Ethiopia 15701850: A History, 1 Mohammed Hassen stated that incontrovertible historical evidence attested to the presence of settled agricultural Oromo communities within the territories of the medieval Christian kingdom of Ethiopia. The author’s use of Amharic terms and concepts for the reconstruction of social history of Ethiopia is an attractive part of this book. Amharic book categories such as Amharic Biography Books, Amharic History Books. ![]() Many individuals and organisations, too many to mention here, also gave their unreserved support to make the textbook and accompanying teacher guide a reality. The central idea of the book discusses social history of Ethiopia and its historical transformation based on four key concepts such as Aksumite paradigm, tabot Christianity, Geber system and Ge’ez civilization.
